• 3rd - 5th grade: 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  Gates will open at 8 a.m. for breakfast. Parents/caretakers are allowed to walk their students to their classes on the first day only. We ask that they leave campus when the bell rings.

Wednesday, September 2 - Friday, September 4, 2026

• 3rd - 5th grade: 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

  • Breakfast available at 8 a.m. daily.

  • Students should be dropped off at the gate by the front office.

  • Parents should say goodbye outside the gate.

  • 4th grade gate (on left side of front office) & 3rd valet gate (near the multipurpose room) will open at 8:20 a.m.

  • Students will be dismissed at the 3rd valet and 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade walking gates.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND SAFETY

ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING OR STOPPING TO DROP STUDENTS OFF DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL.
(Hours of enforcement: 8:00-10:00 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m.)

Do not allow your children to jaywalk in front of the school. Do not double park, make U-turns, or park in the red zone. Respect our neighbors by not blocking their driveways.

ARRIVAL INFORMATION

• Walkers may enter through the main (and fifth grade) gate starting at 8:00 AM; Breakfast is available to all students from 8:00 - 8:20 a.m. daily.
• Optional grade level gates open as well from 8:20 - 8:30 AM to help students get to their 3rd grade, 4th grade, or 5th grade wing more quickly. Students can still enter campus through any gate. Gates close at 8:30.
• The valet lane drop off gate opens from 8:20 - 8:30 AM. Drive through the entrance on 138th Street and follow the arrows.
  • Please stay in the right lane only for valet drop-off. Students may only be dropped off from the right lane at the end of the valet lane from the passenger side (at the gate near the Multipurpose Room). This keeps our students safe.
  • DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT AND LET YOUR CHILD OUT. It is dangerous for children to walk across the parking lot.
  • DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR in the drop-off/pick-up lane, or the loading/unloading area.
  • Please have backpacks ready to exit car.
  • There is ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING OR STOPPING TO DROP STUDENTS OFF DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL. (Hours of enforcement: 8 - 10 a.m. and 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.)
  • Please follow the directions of staff and be patient. We appreciate your cooperation!

DISMISSAL INFORMATION

• Students walking home from school may exit from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade walking gates. Gates are open for 10 minutes after school. Then, students will be walked to the front office to wait for their caregiver.
• Valet: Gate opens at 3:00 p.m. Enter parking lot/drive through area by traveling west on 138th St. and turning right at entrance.
  • DO NOT TURN LEFT from 138TH St. into parking lot/drive through area.
  • PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT AND ASK STUDENTS TO WALK TO YOUR CAR. It is dangerous for children to walk across the parking lot. You will not be able to back out of a parking space to leave until the line of cars is gone.

BICYCLES

• Students can ride their bicycle to school and use our bike racks on campus. Bike racks are located inside the 5th grade wing. Students who ride their bike to school are required to wear a helmet and walk their bike while on campus.

FIRST WEEK DIRECTIONS

• For the first day of school only, parents/caregivers may walk students to class. We ask that parents/caregivers leave campus once the bell rings.
• Starting the second day, students will be dropped off at designated areas and will walk to their class on their own.

Weekly Newsletter

Throughout the school year a weekly school newsletter will be sent to your email every Thursday evening. Please take a few minutes each week to review the important information on upcoming news and events that the newsletter contains.

All personal devices—including cell phones and smartwatches—must remain off and stored in backpacks during the school day, unless a teacher provides permission for instructional use.

Unauthorized use may result in the following consequences:

• A warning
• Confiscation of the device, to be returned to the student at the end of the day
• A requirement for the student to check in the device at the front office each morning for a designated period

Breakfast and Lunch Programs

Both breakfast and lunch are available to all students at no cost to families.

For breakfast, our gates will open each morning at 8 AM. Students will be served breakfast from 8-8:20 AM. Students who finish eating quickly will have supervised time on the blacktop before school begins.

For lunch, students select hot/cold lunch options at arrival time/roll call time (which is why its important to arrive on time).

Dietary Restrictions

Parents should explain this information when filling out their student's health information during registration. This information is then provided to our health clerk, who shares with our teachers as needed. Parents are always encouraged to contact their teachers and our health office directly with any changes or updates.

Incoming Requirements

Immunizations

All children entering Kindergarten or entering school from out of state must have, at the time of enrollment, written evidence of required immunizations. These include a D.P.T., Polio, Hepatitis B, M.M.R and Varicella. The law requires that your child be excluded from school if he/she does not meet these test requirements.

School Entry Physical

All California school children are required to have a copy of a school entry physical exam in their health record at school. The State form needs to be completed by your child’s medical practitioner and returned to the Health Office before completion of Kindergarten. The form can be obtained from the Health Office. Wiseburn School District does not provide physical exams.

Dental Check-Up

To make sure your child is ready for school, California law, Education Code Section 49452.8, now requires that your child have an oral health assessment (dental check-up) by November 1 in either kindergarten or first grade, whichever is his or her first year in public school. Assessments that have happened within the 12 months before your child enters school also meet this requirement. The law specifies that the assessment must be done by a licensed dentist or other licensed or registered dental health professional.

Medications

California Education Code Section 49423 allows designated school personnel to assist the pupil when required to take medication (prescription or over the counter) during the school day.

In order for the school personnel to assist a pupil with medication, the following legal requirements must be met:

Parent/Guardian must sign a statement requesting that school personnel assist the pupil in taking medication during school hours. The physician must sign a statement detailing the method, amount, and time schedules by which such medication will be taken.

Whether it is prescription or over the counter medication, the medication bottle provided by the parent must have the prescription label, complete with the pupil’s name and doctor’s instruction.

Parent request and physician’s statement must be renewed at least annually; new signed physician and parent statements must be submitted if the medication regimen is changed.

All medications will be kept in the office to insure that no medications are shared amongst students. Parents/guardians may bring medication to the school office and give it to their child at the appropriate time. Hollyglen office staff has the proper form for both parent and physician to complete and return to the Health Office.

Aviation Elementary PTA

The Aviation PTA is a dedicated group of parents and caregivers who volunteer their time organizing events, fundraisers, and activities to enhance our bulldogs' educational experiences. Wiseburn Education Foundation

Wiseburn Education Foundation (WEF) is a community-based, volunteer organization focused on raising funds to support programs that allow our students to learn in a STEAM-rich environment. Get involved by helping at a WEF event or serving on a committee. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the school year, so stay tuned to WEF’s Facebook or Instagram for more info.

School Site Council

The SSC oversees the implementation and budget regarding our School Improvement Plan and School Improvement Funds. Five parent members are voted into office by their peers for two year terms. Any parent may attend the meetings which are held monthly.

Volunteering

If you are interested in becoming a school volunteer or you have a friend or neighbor, perhaps a retiree who would be interested in assisting in the classroom, reading to the children, running off papers, translating or sharing a special vocation, please call Aviation School at (310) 725-2151 for information. All volunteers must submit proof of a TB (Mantoux – PPD) test, COVID vaccination, and complete online pesticide training.

Right at School has you covered with morning care starting at 7:00 AM, and afternoon care runs until 6:00 PM, with homework help, fitness activities, and fun enrichment built in every day.

It's open to any Wiseburn USD student, TK through 8th grade, and you can mix and match — choose 1–5 days a week and AM, PM, or both. Sibling, military, and affordable access discounts are available, and enrollment is first-come, first-served, so don't wait.
